Austin's baseball team

Austin's team has also names themselves the Bears.  I need to get some better pictures of him and his team, but this is all I have so far.  He is doing very well.  He has pitched in several games which he loves.  Otherwise, he mostly plays center field, 2nd base and shortstop.  He has a new coach this year who does a lot of practicing the fundamentals which has helped the whole team.  They are currently undefeated in their league.  It is nice that 5 of the players all his age that were on his team last year were put on the same team again so we already knew them and their parents.  The 3 weeks of sunshine we had in early May made it very enjoyable to sit out and watch the games.

Preschool Graduation

Ezra graduated from preschool last week!  It was a very sweet program.  They sang a lot of songs they had learned, several Bible songs and some about days of the week, months of the year, etc.  It was a very special time to celebrate our sweet boy and his accomplishments.  Hard to believe he is now approaching kindergarten!

 His teacher, Miss Marilou.

Each child received a Bible from their teachers.  They all immediately started looking at them on stage and the teacher had a hard time getting them to sing the last song because they were all so engrossed in their Bibles.  That was one of my favorite moments of the night.

His best friend from class, Jenna, who also attends our church.

Teacher Appreciation Day

We sent in some flowers and notes for teacher appreciation week at school.  Christian's letter to his teacher was so sweet I had to take a picture so we could remember...

Awana

So proud of these boys for all finishing their Awana books this year!  I enjoyed learning the verses along with them.

Austin in particular had to work hard to finish his book this year because they really get harder as you get older and we miss the first 2 months of Awana for soccer and the last 2 months for baseball so he really had to pack it in to the middle of the year.  He missed the awards night for baseball so we gave him his award at home.

Christian's baseball team

Christian's team this year is called the Bears.  They are having a good time and playing very well.  One of my favorite things to see at his games is when he is playing 1st base or somewhere in the infield.  Since there is some standing around time, he is usually pretend hitting or catching the ball.  But when he sees action, he is always ready.  He often gets some outs when he plays 1st base, which doesn't happen too much at these games usually.  This is a coach pitch league and Christian usually gets a hit when he is up to bat.  He is often out in the backyard practicing at home too, pretending to be Miguel Cabrera (from the Tigers).  Sometimes I catch him in the backyard by himself -having a pretend game!

Kittens!

We just got our first batch of foster kittens for this year.  A group of 3 little sweeties.  Sad to say they were only with us for 2 weeks and then had to go back to the shelter for adoption but we had a great time with them.  The boys named them Squeakers, Gray Gray, and Blacky.

Can't believe we did this in May...

We had some unusually hot dry weather in May - for like 3 weeks.  It was WONDERFUL!  Very therapeutic for me.  The boys went out in the sprinkler several times.  They even wanted me to get out the blow up pool but I didn't go quite that far.  The weather is back to its usual cool rainy self but there have been some nice days mixed in with the rain.

One of their favorite things to do is wait until the sprinkler is almost down to one side and make a mad dive to try to get under it just in time and come out the other side without being sprayed...or to light saber fight with the water.

Tigers

We took the boys once again to a Detroit Tigers game.  They only come to Seattle once a year and it was a cold damp night.  Not raining at least.  The person who checked my backpack when we walked in the gate had to laugh a little at all the blankets hats and gloves I was bringing in - but we used them all!

As you can see from the empty bleachers behind us...not too many Mariner fans wanted to come out on a cold Tuesday night!

It was a super fun night though and thrilling for the boys to see in person the players we see on tv.

Pancakes

Every once in a while we make pancakes for dinner.  Christian is our pancake monster.  If I ever ask him what he wants for dinner, this is always his answer.  Its fun to try to make their names.

Not sure what Austin was doing, but he didn't want pancakes so I must have just taken a silly picture of him:
